The Tax Policy Analysis Unit (TPAU) has been formally established under the Department of Fiscal Policy.
The core functions of TPAU include revenue analysis; economic and distributional analysis of tax policies; evaluation of tax expenditures ; engagement with key stakeholders; and analysis and support on international taxation and regional andinternational tax cooperation . The TPAU will support the design, appraisal, and monitoring of tax policy reforms through evidence -based analysis and internationally accepted methodologies.
Marking this milestone, the first capacity -building training programme for the Unit was conducted by the IMF during 19-30 January, 2026 .
At the conclusion of the programme, the IMF Mission Team met with the Secretary to the Treasury and the Director General of the Department of Fiscal Policy , where discussions were held on the operationalisation of the Unit and its role in supporting evidence -based tax policy reforms.
